Siobhán Begley

Siobhán Begley
Siobhán Begley is an artist from Baile na nGall, an Irish speaking village on the West coast of Kerry. She currently lives and works in Dublin.

She works with mixed media, using wool and gold ink as the principle components for her pieces and uses a combination of rich colours and textures to create the landscapes and figures in her pieces. Her artistic style has often been described as quite Fairy tale or celtic-like.

These pieces started off as a small project in 2000 while experimenting with different media in an art notebook. A collection of pieces built up over the years defining her highly individual style. Her first exhibition took place in Dublin in 2006. Since then she has participated in a number of very successful group shows around the country.

Over the years Siobhán has made large-scale backdrops for concerts for Irish band The Frames which were used on their world tour and festival dates, and in November 2002 she produced a stage backdrop for the Mic Christopher benefit concert in Dublin's Vicar Street. She has also made 3 largescale backdrops for RTE televised classical musical concerts.

She made the first batch of 300 original hand drawn skull masks for the release of the Frames' album For the birds which were then printed into 10,000 masks for the Oxegen music Festival in 2003.

Siobhán's work has been collected by many private clients while more well known collectors include Gillian Welch, Glen Hansard, Josh Ritter, Louie le Broquay, Luka Bloom, Martha Wainwright.
